Path 2: Architecture with NATA and JEE Paper 2

Architecture is the one creative career that runs through a full professional five-year degree, the B.Arch. Both routes need PCM — Mathematics is uncompromising. If you drop Maths in Class 12, the architecture route closes, no matter how good your portfolio is.

NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture)

Conducted by the Council of Architecture, NATA is offered in multiple sessions across the year. The exam is worth 200 marks, split into a Drawing and Composition section (80 marks) and an online aptitude section (120 marks). JEE Paper 2 (B.Arch)

JEE Paper 2 is part of JEE Mains and tests Mathematics, General Aptitude, and Drawing. Path 3: Design with NIFT, NID, and UCEED

Design exams lead to careers in fashion, product design, UX, visual communication, animation, and more. Crucially, students from all three streams — Science, Commerce, and Arts — are eligible. If you didn't take PCM, this is your track.

NIFT, for Fashion and Textile Design 

NIFT runs a two-stage process: Stage 1 combines a Creative Ability Test (CAT) with a General Ability Test (GAT), and Stage 2 is a hands-on Situation Test. With 19 campuses, NIFT is the largest design-school network in the country. Eligibility is a Class 12 pass in any stream.

NID DAT, for Multidisciplinary Design 

Conducted by NID Ahmedabad, DAT tests design thinking, observation, creativity, and conceptual ability rather than rote knowledge. Eligibility is Class 12 pass in any stream.

UCEED, for Design at the IITs 

Conducted by IIT Bombay, UCEED has two parts: a computer-based section and a drawing and design aptitude section. A strong score can take you to IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, or IIITDM Jabalpur.
